Then use Illustrator or Freehand and make with vector shapes the top, the front and a side part of your model. Then In Strata align them each one in the corresponding axis, and then extrude any face until you reach the limits of the plain parts in each axis. This can also be applied to metaballs, For example I buit the horse this way, I made in Illustrator 3 views, and with Strata I made this "reference construction" with the plain eps shapes, and I filled with balls and finally used the metaballs. Try it, this is really useful for keeping the proportions when ,modelling.... Good Luck!!.
