Intimidator Basketball by Reynir Hauksson« Previous Image Last page in History Next Image »
Artist's Comments: I do a lot of these Basketball designs, and I have never found a model I like to represent my designs properly. After learning some basic steps on SD modeling I figured I try to make my own - including the UV Map so I could use this for futur work. Im almost happy with it... still needs some tweaks, but it is good for what I need now!

It can be fun at times John... about the flat end, I noticed that also... I have that fixed in the NBA ball and the model I uploaded. I know it is still not perfect but its good enough I think.

Thats an interesting gig. The ball looks fine to me - maybe a little flat on the right side...

Thatís right. Seam placement is very important. So you have to build the model with your UV Seams in mind.

Thanks Dale... I have been practicing the UV thing with Wings and it is pretty simple actually... once you have figured out how to mark the cutlines... -)

Good job Reynir. A basketball can be tricky to model and especially to texture effectively.

I just rendered this with Raytracing option in Strata... didnt need any super duper realism for this. And it was extremely quick.

Thanks Mike. Yes I modeled in Strata and UVd in Wings.
