Let's see . . . an overdosed molecule injected into the bloodstream travels to the active area of your brain and releases an extra proton which magnetically drags a random electron off the tissue of the brain. When they collide, a tiny spark of light is captured by a circular array of lenses. Computers record the coordinates of a multitude of these flashes of light and plot them in the round to produce a 3 dimensional model of the active part of your brain.
A project I did a while back for the Brookhaven National Lab.
