Step 1 - draw extrude profile with Pen Tool
Step 2 - create unfilled 2d rounded rectangle (path)
Step 3 - choose Path Extrude Tool
Step 4 - click on extrude profile (turns red), then drag click on path
Step 5 - resulting extrude profile is reversed 180° on finished object - NOT GOOD!
Please see attached image file - thank you! |

I have run into the same problem and everything I tried, failed. I was using so many combinations of flipping the profile, reversing it with the scale tool etc that I was about to give up. Then I tried simply rotating the profile, bottom to top and it worked.
To avoid a wavy object when done, you might want to double click the Path tool first and change the setting from 4 segments to 24, or more if you wish. I found that my Path extrudes are nice and clean to form doing this first.
1. Draw the path. I used a rounded rectangle form with the pen tool, not quite closed. 2. I then created the profile that I wanted. 3. Using the rotate tool, I rotated the profile from bottom to top. (180 degrees) 4. I then used the Path extrude tool. The profile came out correct.

YES!!!
It works perfectly now, upside down!
Strata needs to fix, or mimimally, update the instructions in the User Guide.
Thank you T. Greenough! |

Yeah, this problem has been around forever. The solution above does work, though upside down geometry is the result. The mirror tool is helpful to right that. This is the best you can hope for if you've imported the geometry.
If making in Strata or Illustrator, it has to do with the direction the initial profile is drawn. If drawn with the Pen 2D region tool, counter-clockwise seems to work better in most cases.
