Apologies for this as I can't find my previous workflow notes for this. I have a few lines of text which need to be beveled/extruded 3D objects. I have imported the text outlines from illustrator. The Strata extrude tool is fairly effective, except for the hole bevels. In the past I have used that tool, then fixed the hole extrusions in Photoshop. (this is not an animation)
I also know that I can create meshes for each letter, and extrude/bevel in the poly editor. But then there are edge/smoothing issues that have to be resolved for each character.
I have many characters in 5 lines of text. I also might have to change the font. Is there a streamlined workflow for creating beveled text with correct hole bevels?
Yeah, as someone who spend huge amounts of time exploring this very topic, and even more time tediously building text in Strata back when we still used it, I can say pretty confidently that no.... there is no better way to build text with beveled edges. It's a slow, tedious process, and every character will need to be addressed individually.
