I can't figure out why some of my Strata CX8 files return this error when I try to render:

Image Insert:

19.01 KB

I have tried to render on a MC Pro with the following configuration:
Mac Pro (Late 2013)
3.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5
64 GB 1866 MHz DDR3
AMD FirePro D300 2 GB

…And an iMac with the following configuration:
iMac (27-inch Late 2012)
3.4 GHz Intel Core i7
32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GTC 680MX 2 GB

BUT, here's the ironic part. I can render with no problem on my laptop:
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)
2.5GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

Why would a file consistently render on a MacBook Pro with only 16GB of RAM and 1536 MB Graphics card render when 2 different desktop machines with much more RAM.

If it's the difference in processors, how can I make Strata work better with the desktop computers' processors. The common thread in files that will process on the desktop units and those that won't seems to be having several objects with transparent materials and transparency masks. They seem to have no problems with large files and multiple objects unless transparency is involved.
The laptop seems to have no problem with any files you throw at it.

I have not encountered this in S3D, but have had the error frequently in Photoshop, and it was usually connected to a font, or a very cluttered layer hierarchy. A systematic cleanup usually solved the issue. When it was a mystery, a computer restart often was all that was needed. I would look to those as quick solutions in Strata. Also, your laptop is younger.. are your operating systems the same across all 3 machines?

I have restarted, reinstalled system, etc. No difference. All three machines are running the latest OS.

If you would please send the model to support at strata dot com. I'll watch for it and attempt to render it on my computer.

In addition to sending the model file, let us know the exact version fo Design 3D CX 8 that you are running.

Problem solved. Thanks Kevco! After converting objects to polygon mesh. Everything now renders.
