Hi there, i'm trying to do some stupid things with LUA, and I have some questions if still someone is using LUA in StrataCX.
Is it possible to change the color of a light source and size/intensity/full-int-distance using lua? How can i better understand the use of the s3d.database?
thanks alot,

Jon Bradley is the one who knows the most about Lua Scripting in Strata. I don't know the answers to your questions but I'll see if I can find them for you.

In my opinion there are lots of (formerly) excited lua users who are still waiting for the manual... and waiting...and waiting...and waiting...
I started to write scripts for physical object movement (bouncing, rolling etc) and received some good results but I got stuck in improving them when I relalised that I do not know enough about the concepts of the database.
I am a little bit disappointed with Strata's policy. I upgraded to CX 5 because of the announced Poser plug in (which I am also still waiting for) and the scripting capabilities (waiting...). Furthermore I had to learn to use the new bone system without a sufficient manual (waiting...).
On the other hand Strata releases new tools and programs like the ones just announced. But what about satisfying old customers ?

Hi Benny,
somehow i can agree with U. Even if i must admit some of the following points.
Strata is not always the first place where my wishes (about 3D) are becoming real. But (and i mean a big one) they are absolutly working hard on CX and other things. Live3D, rendeing techniques, AO/HDR, some more delay in shading tools (no sss)... but there they'll get there...
Considering that I started to use 3D on a Colour-Classic Mac (10" monitor), I have to admit that many things have gone in the meantime, great plugins or "artistics" render have gone (studio pro 1.75), and more intersting things have come. Modelling, animating, rendering on layers, and LUA.
Yep, a great thing, LUA, but it's yet at the beginning. I guess what it could be MEL Script at the beginning (in Maya) or scripting in Python with Blender, still both these solutions are far from a DEV ENV. Of course about MEL, I would expet more even now for the price of MAYA, while about python and Blender3D... WOW, it's just a matter of "googling..."!
LUA... I need a stupid TXT list of options, objects, classes functions and a single line of comments... or better, i can live fine without, but it would be nice...
cheers,

Not yet J. I have to dig through it and learn it the same as everyone else and it takes a bit of time. I'm working on it though.
