I'm low on wit today, so bear with me =)
Richardsan posted this challenge link to the Stratalist yesterday:
http://www.cgsphere.com/
Hey, it's just a sphere. Let's send in some Strata entries and see how we do =)
I've loaded up their template file and matched the camera settings as closely as I could. You can download the file for Strata 3D CX 5.0.1 here:
http://www.stratacafe.com/misc/sphere_template.s3d.zip
The lights and background grid are as they were in the template file, I've left those in for consistency, but I think you're allowed to tweak the lighting as you see fit.
If you have an earlier version of Strata 3D, the VRML file from the CGSphere site seems to work best:
http://www.cgsphere.com/project/
I'm rendering mine now =)
(note that a block size of 1 in your raytracing settings is pretty much required to pick up all the tiny grid lines, especially some of the horizontal ones.)

Hey, if you're going to goof off, I can't stop you.
Might as well goof off in 3d =)

I don't think there is a due date, per se. I think it's just more of an exhibition of images created within pretty strict parameters.

No problem, Dale. Some nice looking entries there.
Hopefully someone takes your lead and runs with it =)

Great challenge and Strata users entries too! Why not send a 'Lex de Azevedo Red Strata Sphere' logo (at least for pub)? |

I won't argue with you there. But it's out there, if someone really wants it =)

It isn't a link. It is a valid URL though.
